A distinguished journalist and author has been welcomed to the Senedd by Peredur Owen Griffiths to talk about his latest book exposing the UK’s involvement in the genocide in Gaza.
Peredur co-sponsored the event featuring Peter Oborne who has worked for various papers including The Daily Telegraph and The Daily Mail as well as broadcasters such as the BBC and Channel 4.
Mr Oborne was in Wales to talk about his Sunday Times bestseller ‘Complicit’ which forensically lays out the UK’s backing and direct involvement in the Israel assault on Gaza.
Despite its popularity and heavy praise, Mr Oborne said the book has not been reviewed by a mainstream media organisation.
The event was arranged by the Newport-branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Peredur said: “It was a privilege to welcome distinguished journalist and author Peter Oborne to the Senedd.
“He has forged a formidable reputation as a fearless writer who does not and will not waver from his mission to speak truth to power.
“His latest book, Complicit, is an excoriating account of the UK’s involvement in the genocide in Gaza which has claimed the lives of more than 70,000 people, many of whom were women and children.
“Peter’s unflinching account of the events leading up to the assault on Gaza and the manner in which it was supported by the UK Government and reported, is essential reading for anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of events.”
Peredur added: “I want to thank Zahid Noor from the Newport branch of Palestine Solidarity Campaign for organising this event which was cross-party and well-attended by Senedd Members.”
