A Plaid Cymru Senedd Member visited a college to speak to the local politics society and field their questions.
Peredur Owen Griffiths dropped into the Crosskeys campus of Coleg Gwent to meet with students over the course of an hour.
During the session, the South Wales East MS spoke about his life before politics and the reasons for going for elected office.
He also took part in a lengthy Q&A where college pupils asked him about a range of topics such as Welsh independence, poverty, Educational Maintenance Allowance and advice on how to get into politics.
It was Peredur’s second time visiting the Politics Society at the campus.
Afterwards he said: “I really enjoyed being put through my paces by the members of the Politics Society at the college.
“The students are clearly well-informed, intelligent and insightful. This meant the questions were searching and challenging which was great because it demonstrates a level of engagement among young people.
“They are the future of our country. Without young people getting interested in politics and campaigning on issues that are important to them, the future of our democracy is not a healthy one.
“I was therefore heartened to see the calibre of students at the college and I look forward to my next visit to the campus.
“I also wish the students all the very best in their studies and future careers.”
